If you’re looking for an incredibly durable waterproof drone at a competitive price, the JJRC H31 could be a great option. Here is our review of the JJRC H31.
Before we get into the review, here’s a few things you should know about the JJRC H31:
- This drone does not need FAA certification since it’s so lightweight
- This drone DOES NOT come with a built-in camera
- They claim this drone is “waterproof”, but I wouldn’t recommend landing in any bodies of water
JJRC H31 SPECS:
Control distance : > 100 meters
Flight time : 6-8 minutes
Charge Time : 60 Minutes
Battery : 400 mAh
Weight : 76g
Dimensions : 29.00 x 29.00 x 9.00 cm
I really like the controller that comes with the H31. I haven’t ever saw a controller this nice for a drone this cheap. I always prefer the stick controls as opposed to the thumb-stick controls that are standard on a lot of these cheaper drones.
Design and Durability
I love the design of this drone. It’s very low profile, which helps the flight performance tremendously. The body of the H31 is made out of a soft plastic which makes it incredibly resistant to any damage. It’s one of the most durable drones I’ve ever flown.
Aside from the durability of the actual drone, the propellers on the JJRC H31 are amazingly durable as well. During my test flight, I ran into a metal field goal post at my local football field multiple times. Any other drone I had would have suffered from broken props, but the H31 was perfectly fine. I remember people in the promotional video for the JJRC H31 stepping on the propellers and they refused to break. It looks like it really lives up to that promise.
The flight performance on the JJRC H31 is amazing. I would classify it as an agile, aerobatic drone. You have to be careful though, because sometimes if you turn too sharp, the drone can flip and crash.
If you want to see my video review and flight test of the JJRC H31 in which I also do a range test and an altitude test, check out this video:
Is This a True Waterproof Drone?
During my altitude test of the H31, I crashed hard into the snow and the drone got pretty wet. It was completely fine, however I wouldn’t submerge it into a lake or the ocean.
Overall, the JJRC H31 is an amazing drone for the price. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a semi-waterproof, durable, and aerobatic drone at a good price.
